Racism is the knowledge & practice to master your racial nature, while being a racist is being a practitioner of racism.
Similar to being religious like in satanism & being a satanist, taoism & being a taoist or buddhism & being a buddhist. Satanism is the practice of satan’s religion & beliefs, while being a satanist is being a practitioner of satanism. Taoism is the practice of the tao’s religion & beliefs, while being a taoist is being a practitioner of taoism. Buddhism is the practice of the buddha’s religion & beliefs, while being a buddhist is being a practitioner of buddhism. ETC

Placing ISM behind the word implies the beliefs & practices, while placing IST behind the word implies the practitioner(s).

Racism has a bad reputation because of unworthy inferiors & minorities (especially criminals), that manifested a negative image of hating other races. It could be said that it is the reason that only the worthy elites & privileged individuals are granted the knowledge with practices of racism & being racists; when practiced accordingly.
